My name is Sas Dowlatshahi. I am a psychotherapist, counsellor and counselling supervisor. I have been offering counselling and psychotherapy in the borough of Richmond for over 25 years.
I trained at Morley college to gain my diploma in Person Centred counselling. I then had my post graduate training at The Tavistock Clinic where I completed and successfully gained a Master’s Degree in Kleinian Psychoanalysis. During my time at The Tavistock Clinic I had a unique opportunity for an in-depth study of the many aspects of personality development from birth to adulthood. I did my clinical training at a local youth counselling service in Twickenham and Cruse bereavement counselling service in Richmond. I also have a BPS approved certificate in supervision. I have worked as a counselling tutor, therapy group facilitator and provided training and support for education and healthcare professionals. I have also designed and facilitated parenting courses for Wandsworth, Kingston and Hounslow early years. I recently completed a level 5 course in counselling children and young people.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their code of conduct.
I have a particular experience with:
• anxiety,
• depression,
• bereavement,
• eating disorders,
• relationship problems,
• sexual problems.
I specialise in working with children, young people and families covering issues such as communication skills, social and behavioural problems, exam pressure, bullying, divorce and separation, body dysmorphia, gender identity, sexuality, self harm and suicide ideation. I also have experience of working with adult individuals and couples.
As a therapist I am warm, real and spontaneous. I engage with my clients emotionally and intellectually and provide them with a non-judgemental and safe space to explore the issues around their lives at their own pace.
I feel I am in a privileged position hearing about and being invited to experience aspects of my clients lives.
